Job Description

Bookkeeper Western Pacific Engineering & Survey (WPES) is a multi-disciplinary firm offering clients a broad range of capabilities and experience. WPES provides professional land development consulting services, surveying, planning, materials testing and special inspection services to public and private clients throughout the region. Our diverse expertise allows us to partner with clients to develop tailored, sustainable solutions that meet the unique needs of each project. WPES is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper for full-time, non-exempt hourly employment. This position is primarily responsible for supporting accounting functions for multiple small business entities, with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, invoicing, and job cost tracking/estimating. While the role will include cross-training in payroll and accounts payable, the primary focus will remain on financial tracking, billing accuracy, and revenue management. The ideal candidate is reliable, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MUST
HAVE QUICK BOOKS EXPERIENCE
Manage accounting functions for multiple small companies/entities Prepare, process, and track client invoicing (200-400 invoices per month) Oversee full-cycle Accounts Receivable, including collections, payment tracking, and reconciliation Assist with job costing, project tracking, and estimating support Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate billing and budget alignment Support month-end and year-end close processes Assist in preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts Cross-train in Accounts Payable and payroll processing, including timecard entry in QuickBooks and certified payroll support Maintain organized financial records and documentation Provide general administrative support as needed (filing, phone coverage, client interaction) Assist with compliance, tax filings, and regulatory requirements
REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
Proficiency in QuickBooks (Professional Suite preferred) Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, invoicing, and job costing Familiarity with small business accounting practices Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and office phone systems (Mitel preferred) Understanding of prevailing wage procedures is a plus Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional presence in both attire and communication

REQUIREMENT
WPES focuses its initial efforts on employee selection through a variety of resources, beginning with the job application process. The application will require a prospective employee to: List past driving experience, employers, and types of vehicles driven Notify WPES of any motor vehicle violations for at least the last 3 years Employee selection will be made, in part, based on a combination of a formal interview, background check, reference verification, review of the individual's motor vehicle report (MVR), and a negative drug screen. MVRs will be requested upon completion of a satisfactory interview and periodically thereafter. It is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain the MVR report from the Washington State Department of Licensing and provide it upon request. Management reserves the right to determine acceptable driving records. Excessive violations may result in disqualification or disciplinary action.

SCHEDULE
8-hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
EDUCATION
Associate degree in Accounting or related field preferred
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably supporting multiple entities or small businesses.
