BROAD FUNCTION
The Director of Finance is responsible to the Executive Director for the development, interpretation, coordination, and administration of the nursing Home policies on Accounting and internal Control. These responsibilities mandate planning, organizing, assembling resources, directing, controlling, and coordinating, as necessary to establish and implement programs; assuring the attainment of pre-determined standards of the governing body.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and maintain a financial management system including a budget and audit control system to ensure economical achievement of established health care objectives. Develop and maintain a level of care, cost accounting system, and related procedures in order to ensure compliance with the principles of provider reimbursement and the various reporting requirements of fiscal intermediaries and other sources of payment. Develop and apply efficient methods of accumulating statistical data in order to analyze and submit current and accurate reports regarding the Home's financial position to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors. Establish a plan of control by means of a formal budget, providing a predetermined standard of measurement so that actual performance can be evaluated. Maintain records and develop procedures to safeguard the Nursing Home's assets adequately. Provide adequate cash liquidity and forecasting so that the operating and capital expenditures can be met; continuously review the status of working capital. Maintain a high level of competence in health provider accounting, participate in community programs, and maintain current knowledge of health care regulations, requirements, and trends. Remain cognizant of current Federal, State, and county regulations and remain in compliance with operating procedures, government, and third party requirements and contractual obligations. Attends and participates with the Executive Director in meetings of the governing body and its committees. The incumbent is responsible for presenting reports on assigned topics to the governing body. $22 Million dollar budget. 6 Companies
EDUCTION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. (Post graduate work preferred) Minimum of four years experience in a not for profit organization preferred. Minimum of four years experience in Nursing Home/Long Term Care setting.
