Job Description

We are seeking a Claims Specialist II to manage the preparation, review, and submission of mortgage insurance and investor claims. This role is responsible for assembling complete claim documentation, ensuring compliance with investor and insurer requirements, maximizing claim recoveries, and supporting the timely resolution of claims throughout the servicing process. Primary Responsibilities Prepare and submit complete claim packages, including all required supporting documentation such as invoices, payment histories, ledgers, foreclosure records, bankruptcy documentation, and loss mitigation files. Review loan-level balances, including corporate and escrow advances, to determine reimbursable and non-reimbursable expenses while maximizing claim recoveries. Submit initial and final claims in accordance with applicable investor, insurer, and servicing requirements. Review claim payment documentation, including explanations of benefits and payment notices, to identify reductions or curtailments and determine whether additional action is warranted. Prepare and submit supplemental claims and appeals to recover eligible expenses and interest. Monitor government loan claim activity before and after property conveyance to ensure compliance with program requirements. Track claim deadlines, exception reports, and claim status to ensure timely processing. Monitor real estate owned (REO) activity related to investor claim files. Ensure claim proceeds and receivables are collected accurately and without unnecessary penalties or interest reductions. Coordinate timely vendor payments associated with claim activity. Communicate with attorneys, trustees, vendors, government agencies, insurers, investors, and other external partners to facilitate claim resolution. Work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders to minimize losses and expedite claim processing. Maintain a current understanding of investor, insurer, and government agency claim guidelines and servicing requirements. Participate in internal audits and respond to documentation requests as needed. Review claim files for accuracy and completeness throughout the claim lifecycle. Coordinate loan balance removal from investor reporting systems after claims have been finalized. Provide guidance and support to newer team members and assist with onboarding and training activities. Support the resolution of routine claim issues and perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Compliance & Risk Management Adhere to all applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and servicing guidelines. Identify and escalate operational or compliance risks when appropriate. Exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and ethical business practices. Contribute to a strong internal control environment and support continuous process improvement initiatives. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Previous mortgage loan servicing experience is required. Basic accounting knowledge and strong numerical aptitude. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, and other business software.
Pay:
$19.00 - $25.00 per hour
