Associate Insurance Adjuster (GSD #2962) State of New Mexico - 3.5 Albuquerque, NM Job Details Full-time $27.37 - $41.06 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description Posting Details The Risk Management Division (RMD) was created by the NM Legislature to protect and conserve the state's human resources, physical resources and financial assets. RMD provides multi-line insurance coverage programs, employee health benefits programs, loss prevention and control initiatives, dispute prevention and resolution services, and legal defense for the State of New Mexico. Why does the job exist? The job is responsible for the compromise, adjust, settle, and deny liability claims filed against the state while maintaining the integrity of the public liability fund and to efficiently administer all property claims with the least amount of disruption to the state while maintaining the integrity of the state's property fund and the public liability fund. How does it get done?
This position is responsible for:
Investigating, negotiating, adjusting, and settling property and/or casualty claims filed against the Public Liability Fund or Property Fund. Evaluating claims to determine causation, compensability, coverage, and loss in accordance with applicable laws, policies, and procedures. Conducting claim investigations, including interviewing claimants and witnesses, inspecting accident sites, obtaining documentation, and taking written or recorded statements. Recommending claim settlements and identifying potential third-party or subrogation recovery. Maintaining accurate claim files and documentation to support claim decisions, reporting requirements, and audit trails. Reviewing and approving vendor invoices related to assigned claims. Who are the customers? State Agencies, Higher Education, General Public, Medical Facilities, and Local Public Bodies Ideal Candidate State Agencies, Higher Education, General Public, Medical Facilities, and Local Public Bodies Minimum Qualification Associate degree in any field and two (2) years of claims adjustment or insurance investigative experience. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Possession of a valid New Mexico Adjuster License within one-hundred-eighty (180) days from date of hire. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Valid New Mexico Independent Claims Adjuster License within 180 days of hire. Working Conditions Phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
