Job Description

PURPOSE:
The Manager BSA Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day management of BSA processes such as suspicious activity monitoring, CTR filing, enhanced due diligence, and/or sanctions and OFAC screening. The Manager BSA Compliance must be willing to collaborate with their team while focusing on communicating with management, overseeing the distribution of work items to staff, streamlining efforts, and remaining in compliance with all BSA/AML requirements.
DUTIES:
Provide day-to-day oversight and direction for the team while assisting the staff with prioritizing their work assignments. Help to establish annual goals and objectives while providing performance feedback, talent assessments, and gap assessments to the VP BSA Compliance. Assign responsibilities and schedules as well as coordinate the onboarding and training of newly hired employees. Possess expert level knowledge in a focused BSA program as well as sufficient knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML). Maintain procedural ability and skill set to aid and supplement staff during high volume periods as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, working suspicious activity monitoring (SAM) alerts, conducting enhanced due diligence, completing or filing a CTR, and/or filing a SAR. Perform quality control reviews for SAM alerts, CTR deletions, high risk client reviews, OFAC alert dispositions, and/or SAR reviews. Appropriately communicate information and direction through verbal conversation, email, instant messages and/or other forms of written communication. Assist the VP BSA Compliance with resource allocation, job performance evaluation, and monitoring of daily performance. Manage all HR needs of the BSA Compliance team, including hiring, time off requests, FMLA, performance reviews, and merit. Review and update/modify team procedures and process flows annually and/or as needed. Make recommendations for design of process and/or system enhancements. Help prepare for regulatory examinations by working with the VP BSA Compliance Manager and associates by collecting and reviewing documents and files from the request lists and answering questions and/or providing demonstrations for examiners as needed. Ensure up-to-date resources are maintained in SECU's resource library. Assist in preparing various management reports. Assist in completing BSA/AML risk assessments. Support the VP BSA Compliance as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Five to seven years working in BSA/AML or comparable experience. Demonstrated expertise in a particular BSA skill set. Must have strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct thorough research and investigations while interpreting and understanding how laws and regulations impact financial institutions. Person of the highest integrity. Must be a well-organized, efficient, detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and remain flexible as priorities change. Must be a self-starter, able to work remotely and independently, and work well with others including all levels of management. Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policy established by manager and the Credit Union. Must be cordial in all interactions with members and co-workers.
Preferred Skills:
Prefer four-year degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in business and/or law enforcement, or CCUE Certification and at least five (5) consecutive years of full time SECU service, or an Associate of Arts degree through the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) and five (5) consecutive years of full time SECU service. Obtain applicable certifications within 12 to 24 months of hire in Compliance. Attend training as needed to maintain certification. Must be able to speak English fluently.
JOB ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid position where working remotely is allowed but in person attendance to the office is required with physical proximity to other employees. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone should be expected. Some background noise from other employees and telephone.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions. Job requires a substantial amount of sitting. Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard or applicable assistive technology to enter or retrieve information. Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver or applicable assistive technology for telephone access. Must be able to comprehend phone calls. Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
