Compliance / Operations Position Summary ODS Transportation is seeking an experienced School Bus Compliance Director / School Bus Driver to oversee school transportation compliance while also remaining actively involved in daily operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands Ohio school bus regulations, driver qualification requirements, vehicle compliance, training, safety documentation, and day-to-day pupil transportation operations. The ideal candidate is a strong administrator who is also comfortable driving a school bus when operational needs require it. Key Responsibilities Oversee school bus compliance for ODS Transportation. Maintain driver qualification files and required compliance documentation. Track CDL licenses, school bus endorsements, medical certificates, background checks, drug testing, training requirements, and expiration dates. Ensure drivers remain current with all required state and company certifications. Assist with new-driver onboarding, qualification, and compliance review. Maintain organized driver, vehicle, training, and safety records. Monitor compliance with Ohio pupil transportation requirements and company policies. Conduct periodic audits of driver files and transportation records. Assist with pre-trip, post-trip, vehicle inspection, and documentation compliance. Work closely with Operations, Dispatch, Fleet, and Human Resources. Assist with accident, incident, and safety documentation. Support corrective action and retraining when compliance issues are identified. Help prepare the company for state, district, insurance, and regulatory audits. Communicate compliance expectations clearly to drivers and management. Drive a school bus route, charter, field trip, or substitute assignment when needed. Maintain safe, professional transportation of students at all times. Assist management with additional transportation and compliance responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License with required passenger and school bus endorsements. Current school bus driver qualifications required by the State of Ohio. Clean and acceptable driving record. Ability to pass required background checks and drug/alcohol testing. Strong understanding of school bus safety and transportation operations. Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage confidential employee and compliance information. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and electronic record systems. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a School Bus Compliance Director, Transportation Supervisor, Driver Trainer, Safety Manager, or similar position. Knowledge of Ohio Department of Education and Workforce pupil transportation requirements. Experience conducting driver file audits and maintaining compliance records. Experience training or supervising school bus drivers. Experience working with school districts, charter schools, special-needs transportation, or contracted student transportation. Ideal Candidate ODS is looking for someone who is highly organized, accountable, safety-focused, and comfortable taking ownership of compliance. This individual should be able to identify compliance concerns before they become operational problems and work collaboratively with drivers and management to maintain a safe and professional transportation program. Because this is a hands-on position, the Compliance Director must also be willing and able to drive when needed. Schedule Full-Time | Monday-Friday Some early mornings, afternoons, field trips, and occasional additional hours may be required based on operational needs.
