Job Description
Summary The Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing credit data and financial statements on current and potential borrowers. To evaluate the financial condition and degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money to individuals and/or businesses. Prepare reports with credit information for use in decision making. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Obtain information and analyze credit data and financial statements to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Analyze and report on loan data provided by credit bureaus, financial records, and other financial institutions in regard to new, renewing, and existing borrowers/loans. Generate financial ratios, using computer programs, to evaluate customers' financial status. Review and prepare written analyses, spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions and prepare or assist in the preparation of loan memorandum for presentation to loan committee and Board of Directors. Maintain the commercial financial information loan files. Recommend risk ratings for commercial credit relationships to lender(s)/loan committee. Monitor loan covenants. Monitor borrowing base and stock secured margins on selected commercial loans. Competencies Must be organized, efficient and able to work independently or with a team and be detail oriented in order to generate accurate reports. Able to research and evaluate data to make informed decisions and solve problems. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Sense of discretion and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality of pertinent and sensitive information. Must be able to understand financial data (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, financial ratios, etc.) and apply those skills as they pertain to the loan underwriting process.
