About this Position
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Counselor serves as a front line point of contact for all students, parents, faculty, and staff to assist students with the financial aid process which includes assisting with verification documents, the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), Financial Needs Analysis forms, and Suspension Appeal Forms. The Counselor also is responsible for directing the main flow of students within the office, maintains the main office telephone line, voicemail, and financial aid email account, as well as helps other staff with additional projects when needed.
Required Qualifications Education :
Associate degree preferred.
Experience:
Proven history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior. Minimum of two years' related work experience in a customer service setting with high traffic volume. Certifications, Registrations, and/or
Licenses:
A valid driver's license. Skills, Proficiencies, and/or
Knowledge:
Skills and Abilities :
Must be knowledgeable of all facets of financial aid to assist students appropriately. A positive "can-do" attitude along with a professional appearance and demeanor should be modeled at all times. Must have a willingness to continually self-initiate learning to remain current in expertise. Should be able to quickly grasp and apply training in learning new skills and methods. Must be service oriented with ability to work and respond effectively to various audiences of internal and external clients. Must be flexible, innovative and self-motivated.
Communication Skills :
Excellent written communication and listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
