Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join a manufacturing organization in New Orleans, Louisiana on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This is a high-growth startup in a dynamic phase of expansion, focused on scaling operations rapidly and capturing market share. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. This role will oversee core accounting operations, support accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong control over inventory and work-in-progress activity. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across the full accounting cycle, thrives in a deadline-driven environment, and is comfortable working within a large ERP platform, with Epicor experience viewed favorably.

Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end accounting activities, ensuring daily transactions are recorded accurately and financial records remain current.
• Direct the month-end closing process by preparing reviews, coordinating timelines, and resolving outstanding items efficiently.
• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts on a regular basis to support accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and post journal entries related to accruals, inventory activity, fixed assets, and other key accounting areas.
• Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, tracking, and analysis of work-in-progress balances within a manufacturing setting.
• Support financial statement preparation and assist with audit requests by organizing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Oversee fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation tracking, and periodic verification of asset inventory.
• Utilize a large ERP system to monitor financial data, improve reporting visibility, and maintain reliable accounting workflows. Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle accounting in a detail-oriented business environment.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger oversight, and account reconciliation.
• Prior experience with inventory accounting, fixed assets, and work-in-progress reporting in manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with financial statement audits and the ability to provide well-organized supporting documentation.
• Proficiency with enterprise-level ERP systems; experience with Epicor is a strong advantage.
• Solid understanding of journal entries, financial controls, and accounting best practices.
