  • Position Summary
  • This role leads the systems, reporting, and process improvements that support revenue accounting at Cengage.
The position combines deep revenue accounting and SAP expertise with a focus on improving the close, strengthening reporting and analytics, and building more efficient and scalable processes. This leader will work closely with Finance, Accounting, and IT to ensure our revenue systems support accurate reporting, compliance, and business needs.
  • Core Responsibilities
  • + Lead improvements to revenue accounting processes, systems, reporting, and analytics.
+ Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and IFRS 15. + Lead SAP Revenue Accounting & Reporting (RAR) initiatives, including integration with
BRIM, S/4HANA
Finance, and related systems. + Improve and automate revenue close processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. + Develop analytics that provide greater insight into period-over-period results and revenue performance. + Build and improve reporting and forecasting tools using
SAP S/4HANA, BI
platforms, and other data sources. + Partner with IT to prioritize and deliver SAP RAR enhancements and process improvements. + Ensure SAP configurations, integrations, and reporting support accounting, forecasting, and audit requirements. + Lead cross-functional work to address reporting needs and complex revenue accounting issues. + Oversee reporting and analysis related to standalone selling price (SSP) and other revenue accounting requirements. + Identify opportunities to simplify processes and make better use of data and technology. + Lead and develop the team responsible for revenue reporting and related analysis.
  • Education
  • + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience
  • + 10+ years of experience in revenue accounting, financial reporting, financial systems, or related areas.
+ 5+ years of experience with SAP Finance and Revenue Accounting & Reporting (RAR). + Deep experience with SAP RAR implementations and integrations. + Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition requirements. + Experience with subscription, SaaS, or other recurring-revenue business models. + Experience leading work across Finance, Accounting, IT, and other business teams. + Experience improving and automating financial processes.
  • Skills
  • + Strong knowledge of SAP RAR, BRIM, and S/4HANA Finance.
+ Experience with BI, reporting, forecasting, and automation tools, including Alteryx. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to translate complex accounting and systems issues into practical solutions. + Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills. The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location. Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range. In this position, you will be eligible to participate in the company's discretionary incentive bonus program. This position's bonus target amount, which is not guaranteed and is dependent on individual performance and overall company results among other factors, is provided below. 20%
