Accounting Manager (CPA) C.A.C. Industries, Inc. About the
Company:
C.A.C. Industries, Inc. is a well-established heavy civil construction and infrastructure contractor serving the New York metropolitan area. The company, along with its affiliated entities, specializes in complex public works projects including utilities, transportation, and environmental construction. Position Overview:
C.A.C. Industries is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Accounting Manager to join its Finance and Accounting team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting the organization's continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with public accounting experience and exposure to construction accounting who is looking to transition into a dynamic, hands-on industry role.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Close Process:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
Support the monthly and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Analyze financial results and assist in identifying variances and trends.
Construction Accounting & Project Oversight:
Monitor work-in-process (WIP) schedules and ensure accurate percentage-of-completion revenue recognition. Support project accounting efforts and ensure alignment with contract terms and job costing.
Compliance & Audit:
Coordinate annual financial statement audits, tax audits, and regulatory examinations. Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns.
Banking & Capital Management:
Manage bank reporting requirements, including preparation of financial packages. Monitor loan covenant compliance and related calculations. Support equipment financing activities and lender relationships.
Fixed Assets & Equipment:
Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and reporting. Manage equipment financing schedules and ensure accurate tracking of asset performance.
Process Improvement & Controls:
Assist in strengthening internal controls and financial processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies. Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Certifications & Education:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of public accounting experience (Big 4 or regional firm experience preferred). Construction industry or construction accounting experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of
U.S. GAAP.
Experience with WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting. Familiarity with fixed assets, equipment financing, and bank covenant compliance. Experience coordinating audits and tax filings.
Systems & Tools:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with accounting/ERP systems (construction systems a plus).
