The Portfolio Manager I is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans and underwriting transactions . This position is accountable for the ongoing review and analysis of financial statements, proactive portfolio monitoring, and direct client interaction to ensure a comprehensive understanding of borrower performance and risk profile. The Portfolio Manager I partner closely with Relationship Managers, Senior Portfolio Managers , and Credit Ri sk throughout the deal lifecycle. Responsibilities include covenant structuring and analysis, collateral evaluation, risk rating assessment, and the preparation of sound, well-supported credit recommendations. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank ' s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying , assessing, managing, monitoring and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain an independent current and forward-looking view on the creditworthiness of each client and communicate this view to business and risk partners. P erform monitoring actions; conduct periodic deal reviews; and execute decisions to renew or modify deals. Work closely with Credit Risk , Senior Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers to actively manage the bank's exposure to the clients in the portfolio. Analyze historical financials and projections to ensure accurate risk ratings , early identification of emerging credit problems, and articulation of industry trends. Manage underwriting, approval and documentation process for transactions which may include new money, loan extensions, amendments, waivers and ancillary products, including treasury management, FX, interest rate derivatives, and commodity exposure. Review and recommend credit decisions; perform final risk rating analysis; provide business partners with credit lending policy interpretation. Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. Actively involved in the training of junior team members. Ensure the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in system records and electronic files, supporting advanced compliance and data governance initiatives.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
R ole may be responsible for providing other employees , typically credit analysts, timely , candid, and constructive performance feedback. Developing employees to their fullest potential and provide challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor ' s degree in Finance , Business Administration, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of commercial banking credit experience that ideally includes equipment finance. Strong analytical skills and critical thinking skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills . Professional presence (client-facing). Ability to partner with all deal stakeholders including clients, relationship manager and credit teams. Expertise in financial and risk analysis, including financial modeling. Demonstrated expertise in using effective problem solving. Proficient in technology and the ability to learn new applications. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines .
