This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a salary range of $85,000 to $115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. The Accounting Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing multi-entity accounting operations and supporting accurate financial reporting across Ag World's domestic and international businesses. This role partners closely with the CFO to manage financial processes, strengthen internal controls, support budgeting and forecasting, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting expertise, attention to detail, and a collaborative leadership style.Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting Operations Share responsibility for daily accounting activities, with primary responsibility for accounting associated with the company's Canadian, Chinese, and real estate operations. Coordinate with local accounting personnel and external advisors to ensure transactions, adjustments, intercompany activity, banking, and financial reporting are timely and accurate. Manage accounting activities across multiple legal entities including Ag World operating companies, international entities, and real estate holding companies. Prepare and review intercompany transactions, consolidations, and elimination entries. Monitor debt and interest payments. Monitor cash balances, initiate transfers, coordinate funding activities, and prevent overdraft situations. Maintain fixed asset and personal property records, Review automated and imported transactions, investigate exceptions, and reconcile activity generated through property management and other integrated systems. 2. Financial Reporting Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements for review and approval by the CFO. Recommend, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures, subject to CFO approval Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. 3. Budgeting and Forecasting Coordinate and support the budgeting and forecasting process under the direction of the CFO. Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances. Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making. 4. Internal Controls Develop, implement, and monitor assigned internal controls under the direction of the CFO. Conduct periodic reviews to assess compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. Identify and address any weaknesses in internal controls. 5. Compliance and Regulatory Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and accounting standards. 6. Team Leadership and Development Provide technical guidance and support to accounting staff. Maintain a professional office presence and communicate respectfully, clearly, and constructively with colleagues, management, and external parties. Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new accounting team members. Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment. 7. System Implementation and Improvement Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of new financial systems and software. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems. Lead projects to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency. Ensure accurate and timely closing of monthly and year-end accounts. Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts. 8. Payroll Support Support semi-monthly payroll process (multi-state and multi-national) for all company employees and ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, garnishments, and company deductions. Learn payroll systems to provide backup and problem resolution as needed. 9. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA not required At least five years experience in accounting Strong critical thinking, with the ability to interpret data, provide conclusions, and problem solve. Strong organizational skills, including prioritization, accurate and timely completion of assignments, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment. Experience with Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite, or a comparable multi-entity ERP system preferred. Highly skilled in accounting and financial processes Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations High level of integrity, with the ability to discreetly handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately. Collaborative team member who can develop effective working relationships; works cooperatively, exchanges ideas, and constructively addresses issues. Flexible, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.Additional Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or control tools, reach with hands and arms, speak, and hear. Occasionally lift or move office products or supplies up to 30 pounds. This is a full-time position normally scheduled for approximately 40 hours per week. Periodic additional hours, including occasional weekend or holiday work, may be required to address month-end close, harvest season, audits, budgeting, year-end reporting, payroll processing, system implementations, or urgent business needs. PTO scheduling may be limited during critical accounting and business periods, including month-end and year- end close, audits, budgeting, payroll processing dates, harvest season, system implementations, and other periods designated by management. Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at a level determined by management. Must travel for one week per year to attend management meetings.
