Loss Mitigation Underwriter Guild Mortgage Company $24/hour | Full-Time | 6 month contract Guild Mortgage Company has been serving homeowners and buyers since 1960. We are looking for a Loss Mitigation Underwriter to join our team and help evaluate delinquent mortgage accounts and determine appropriate workout solutions for borrowers experiencing financial hardship. About the Role The Loss Mitigation Underwriter evaluates and underwrites loss mitigation applications using borrower financial information, investor guidelines, and established underwriting standards. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with mortgage servicing and loss mitigation. You will analyze borrower income and expenses, review supporting documentation, run investor waterfall calculations, and determine appropriate solutions such as loan modifications, forbearance, repayment plans, deferrals, and partial claims. Responsibilities Review and underwrite loss mitigation applications and complete workout packages. Analyze borrower income, expenses, assets, and financial hardship documentation. Determine borrower eligibility using investor guidelines and waterfall requirements. Evaluate and recommend workout solutions, including: Loan modifications Forbearance agreements Repayment plans Payment deferrals Partial claims Work with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA and other investor requirements. Obtain and review required documentation within established timelines. Perform income and expense calculations to determine repayment ability. Run waterfall calculations and obtain workout results through investor systems. Coordinate with internal departments, investors, agencies, and other parties to resolve loan issues. Order appraisals, title endorsements, date downs, and other documentation when required. Maintain accurate loan-level records and update internal and investor systems. Ensure files comply with investor, regulatory, state, federal, and CFPB requirements. Assist with audits and process-improvement initiatives. Follow up on outstanding documentation and issues to ensure timely decisions. Maintain accurate documentation and meet department productivity and quality standards. Qualifications 2+ years of mortgage servicing experience OR 1+ year of loss mitigation experience. Experience underwriting or evaluating delinquent mortgage loans strongly preferred. Working knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA loan requirements. Understanding of mortgage servicing, loss mitigation, and workout processes. Knowledge of applicable mortgage servicing regulations and compliance requirements. Strong financial analysis and mathematical skills. Ability to analyze income, expenses, assets, and borrower financial statements. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word . Familiarity with ICE/Blitzdoc or similar document management systems is a plus. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in mortgage servicing and loss mitigation and understands how to evaluate a borrower's financial situation against investor guidelines to determine an appropriate workout solution. You should be comfortable working with detailed financial documentation, meeting regulatory and investor deadlines, managing multiple files, and making accurate decisions independently.
Additional Information Pay:
