Job Description

Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MLO Trainee to join our dynamic financial services team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing a career in mortgage lending, with the potential to grow into a fully licensed loan officer position. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer service skills, a solid understanding of financial products. Duties Assist clients in the loan application process, providing clear explanations of mortgage options and guiding them through required documentation. Conduct credit analysis and evaluate borrower financial information using mortgage software and accounting tools like Quicken. Prepare and review loan packages, ensuring compliance with
TILA, FNMA
guidelines, and other federal and state regulations. Collaborate with underwriters, escrow officers, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely loan approvals and closings. Perform preliminary underwriting reviews and assist in loan processing tasks to streamline the mortgage approval process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of mortgage servicing practices, banking regulations, and changes in mortgage laws. Engage in ongoing professional development to obtain or maintain mortgage licensing credentials. Promote sales by identifying client needs and offering suitable financial solutions while adhering to Fair Housing regulations. Utilize sales techniques and negotiation skills to build client relationships and expand the customer base. Requirements Prior experience in financial sales, loan origination, or mortgage servicing is preferred; however, training will be provided for qualified candidates eager to learn. Knowledge of FNMA guidelines, TILA regulations, escrow processes, and underwriting procedures is highly desirable. Proficiency with mortgage-related software such as Quicken, financial software applications, accounting software, and 10-key typing skills. Strong mathematical skills including basic math, credit analysis, and math proficiency for accurate calculations. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and professionally. Familiarity with contracts, banking procedures, fair housing laws, and mortgage documentation requirements. Ability to work diligently within regulatory frameworks while maintaining high ethical standards. A valid license or willingness to obtain licensure as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO), including passing relevant licensing exams.
