PART TIME NIGHT AUDITOR / FRONT DESK AGENT

Schuyler, Nebraska Shift:
10:00 PM - 6:00 AM Position Summary The Night Auditor is responsible for providing excellent guest service while overseeing the hotel during the overnight hours. This position combines front desk responsibilities, nightly accounting procedures, hotel security, light cleaning and laundry duties, and preparation for the morning breakfast shift. Because the Night Auditor may work independently for much of the shift, this position requires someone who is dependable, alert, organized, trustworthy, and able to handle guest concerns and unexpected situations professionally. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFront Desk & Guest Service Provide friendly, professional service to all guests. Complete guest check-ins and check-outs. Answer the hotel phone and assist with reservations and guest questions. Process payments and maintain accurate guest accounts. Assist guests with room, property, and amenity questions. Respond promptly and professionally to guest concerns. Document important information for the incoming shift. Remain available and attentive to guests throughout the entire shift. Night Audit & Accounting Complete the nightly audit according to hotel procedures. Verify room charges, payments, postings, and other transactions. Review hotel reports for accuracy. Balance the front desk cash drawer as required. Complete and organize required nightly paperwork. Report discrepancies or unusual activity to management. Prepare the property management system for the next business day. Hotel Security & Overnight Responsibilities Monitor the property throughout the night. Complete required interior and exterior property walks. Ensure exterior doors are secured according to hotel procedures. Make sure the front desk doorbell and other required guest-access systems are operating. Monitor common areas and address excessive noise or other disturbances. Follow hotel procedures regarding unauthorized visitors or suspicious activity. Contact management or emergency services when appropriate. Remain awake, alert, and available for the entire scheduled shift. Sleeping while on duty is strictly prohibited. Laundry & Light Cleaning Complete assigned hotel laundry during the overnight shift. Fold and properly store clean linens promptly. Keep the front desk and lobby neat and organized. Perform assigned light cleaning of public areas. Empty trash and complete other overnight cleaning tasks as assigned. Leave work areas clean and ready for the morning staff. Breakfast Preparation Prepare the breakfast area for morning service. Complete the required breakfast line check. Prepare and stock breakfast items according to hotel procedures. Ensure food, supplies, utensils, and serving areas are ready before breakfast begins. Follow food safety and sanitation requirements. Communication & Shift Handoff Complete all required checklists and communication logs. Document guest issues, maintenance concerns, unusual activity, and unfinished tasks. Communicate important information to the morning shift. Notify management promptly of serious guest, safety, security, or property issues. Job Expectations The Night Auditor must: Report to work on time and ready to begin the shift at 10:00 PM. Remain awake and attentive throughout the entire shift. Stay at the property until properly relieved by the incoming employee. Complete required duties rather than remaining seated at the front desk for extended periods when work needs to be completed. Follow hotel checklists, policies, and management instructions. Maintain guest confidentiality. Maintain professional behavior and appearance. Be dependable and able to work independently with limited supervision. Understand that overnight attendance and reliability are essential because another employee may not be available to immediately cover the shift. Qualifications Must be dependable and punctual. Strong customer-service and communication skills. Comfortable working independently overnight. Basic computer skills required. Ability to learn the hotel's property management and reservation systems. Ability to accurately handle cash and credit-card transactions. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions during unexpected situations. Previous hotel, customer-service, cash-handling, or night-audit experience is helpful but not required. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to: Sit, stand, and walk throughout an 8-hour shift. Regularly move throughout both floors and common areas of the hotel. Bend, reach, lift, and carry items required for normal hotel operations. Handle laundry, breakfast supplies, and other hotel materials. Perform routine property walks and light cleaning duties.
Schedule Night Audit Shift:
10:00 PM-6:00 AM Weekend and holiday availability MUST be required depending on scheduling needs. What We're Looking For The ideal Night Auditor is someone who can be trusted to take care of the hotel when management and most other employees are not on property. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the shift, notices when something needs attention, completes required tasks without constant supervision, and treats our guests and property with care.
