Payroll Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Baldwin Park, California. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing payroll operations for over 300 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic government organization.

Responsibilities:

• Process payroll for a workforce of 300+ employees, including both permanent and part-time staff.
• Address payroll corrections, deductions, and adjustments to ensure accuracy.
• Manage CalPERS-related payroll items, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
• Administer benefits adjustments, including unpaid leave, late enrollments, and benefit cutoffs.
• Handle final checks and payouts for departing employees.
• Ensure payroll aligns with contract requirements and organizational policies.
• Resolve timing issues and ensure all payroll processes are completed promptly.
• Utilize payroll software to maintain accurate records and streamline operations.
• Collaborate with HR staff to address payroll-related questions and concerns.
• Maintain compliance with city policies and public sector payroll regulations.
