Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in Baldwin Park, California. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing payroll operations for over 300 employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. This is a long-term contract position that offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic government organization.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll for a workforce of 300+ employees, including both permanent and part-time staff.
- Address payroll corrections, deductions, and adjustments to ensure accuracy.
- Manage CalPERS-related payroll items, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Administer benefits adjustments, including unpaid leave, late enrollments, and benefit cutoffs.
- Handle final checks and payouts for departing employees.
- Ensure payroll aligns with contract requirements and organizational policies.
- Resolve timing issues and ensure all payroll processes are completed promptly.
- Utilize payroll software to maintain accurate records and streamline operations.
- Collaborate with HR staff to address payroll-related questions and concerns.
- Maintain compliance with city policies and public sector payroll regulations. Requirements
- At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a public sector or city government setting.
- Proficiency in full-cycle payroll processing, including handling multi-state payroll.
- Experience managing payroll operations for large teams, ideally 500+ employees.
- Familiarity with Tyler payroll systems or similar software is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, including benefit administration and deductions.
- Ability to work effectively with HR teams and address payroll inquiries.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or comparable systems is a plus.
