About the
Position:
This individual is responsible for maintaining all financial records and accounting activity, including accounts payable, payroll, budget, expense allocations, reconciliation of checking and savings accounts, preparation of monthly financial statements, review of same with physicians and practice administrator, and coordination of payroll, benefits and maintenance.
Required Education and Experience:
1. Degree/Certificate in accounting, finance, or related discipline 2. Previous bookkeeping experience in a medical setting preferred. 3. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
1. Working knowledge of standard accounting principles and budgetary experience. 2. Familiarity with taxation issues, professional corporations, and contracting issues. 3. Expertise in Microsoft Excel or any other spreadsheet. 4. Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills. 5. Ability to develop and implement financial standards and protocols. 6. Ability to work as a team member. 7. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 8. Well-organized with attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping/Reporting Responsibilities 1. Responsible for accounts payable functions for practice and physician chart of accounts. 2. Produces financial statements and general ledger for all companies, including {managed health name}, practice, and doctor(s), for review and adjustment by accountant. 3. Reconciles checking and savings accounts. 4. Develops annual budget for practice in coordination with the practice administrator; reviews budget-to-actual comparison reports provided by the practice administrator. 5. Develops weekly flash reports on charges and receipts for the practice. 6. Produces practice management reports to evaluate various financial and operational ratios. 7. Provides payroll information to practice administrator; maintains employee payroll records. 8. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements. Administrative Duties 1. Assists in financial activities such as running payroll coordinating benefits, and generating invoices. 2. Distributes information and education to practice employees regarding a broad spectrum of compliance-related topics (e.g., OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, FWA, MIPS, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, etc.). 3. Maintains control of petty cash. 4. Performs general office maintenance and calling of professionals. 5. Ensures that all business postings, certificates, insurance and licensures are maintained and posted as applicable 6. Assists the Billign Manager to ensure that all physicians and providers obtain and maintain all appropriate licensures, certifications, credentialing, and insurance policies, and are posted as applicable. Communication 1. Communicates effectively with physicians, staff members, and patients in an organized, professional, and courteous manner. 2. Assists with human resource issues and policies. 3. Participates in regular staff meetings.
Physical Activity of Position:
  • Talking. This position requires expressing or exchanging ideas through the spoken word. This position must participate in activities to convey detailed or essential verbal instructions to physicians, staff, and patients accurately and succinctly.
  • Hearing. This position is required to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, including the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make the discriminations in sound.
  • Repetitive motion. This position requires substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and fingers while working on reports or the computer.
  • Sedentary work. This position may need to occasionally exert up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The job consists primarily of sedentary work and mostly involves sitting. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
  • Visual Requirements. This position requires close visual acuity (with or without correction) to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, view a computer terminal, and read extensively.
  • Environmental Conditions.
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as typical office work).
