Job Title:
Payroll Specialist Job Summary The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurately processing employee payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and maintaining payroll records. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to handle time-sensitive tasks. Key Responsibilities Process payroll for employees on a regular schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) Verify employee hours, pay rates, deductions, and bonuses Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations Calculate and process payroll taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other deductions Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee inquiries Prepare payroll reports for finance, HR, and management teams Collaborate with HR and accounting departments for accurate data integration Support audits by providing payroll documentation and reports Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation information Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field (or equivalent experience) 2-5 years of payroll processing experience Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paychex, SAP) Familiarity with payroll laws and tax regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications Strong numerical and analytical skills High attention to detail and accuracy Preferred Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) Experience with multi-state or international payroll Knowledge of HRIS systems Key Skills Accuracy and attention to detail Time management and organizational skills Strong communication and problem-solving abilities Confidentiality and ethical judgment Work Environment Typically office-based or remote May require extended hours during payroll cycles or audits All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status.
