Job Description
Payroll Administrator Minneapolis, MN (hybrid schedule) Job Description The Payroll Administrator supports a large, high-volume payroll operation by reviewing and reconciling project timecards, preparing weekly payroll, and ensuring accurate and timely payments for a diverse workforce. This role focuses heavily on payroll auditing and workforce management/timekeeping, requiring strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities. The position offers the opportunity to work within a growing payroll shared services environment that supports complex, multi-state payroll operations and provides significant room for professional development and internal mobility. Responsibilities Review and reconcile project timecards prior to the weekly pay run to ensure accuracy and compliance. Prepare and review weekly payroll, including accurate data entry of payroll information and generation of associated reports as needed. Prepare daily off-cycle checks, including retroactive pay calculations when required. Research, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll inquiries from team members via phone and email in a timely and professional manner. Serve as a payroll team liaison for project teams, providing guidance on timekeeping, payroll processes, and related questions. Complete unemployment earnings requests accurately and within required deadlines. Set up new craft payroll team members, including salary and pay-related data entry, and process updates and terminations as needed. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with at least 6 months of payroll experience. Experience working in payroll, with exposure to timecard review, payroll processing, or payroll auditing. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data views, graphing, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP functions. Ability to analyze large data sets and identify discrepancies or trends in payroll and timekeeping information. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a shared services environment supporting payroll, accounting, or finance functions. Familiarity with workforce management and timekeeping systems, particularly in environments where payroll audit is a primary focus. Exposure to multi-state payroll operations and understanding of varying state requirements. Work Environment The role operates within a modern, shared services office that houses the majority of the organization's Accounting, Finance, and Payroll functions, supporting a workforce of approximately 6,000-7,000 employees across virtually every state in the United States. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.05/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
