Full Job Description Job Title:
Associate Financial Planner Role Summary The Associate Financial Planner supports Lead Advisors by owning and managing the financial planning process for clients with an established planning relationship. This role delivers both Foundational, goal‑based advice offered to all clients and Comprehensive, fee‑based financial planning , managing the end‑to‑end preparation of plans across both service models. The Associate ensures plans are accurate, efficient, goal‑aligned, and client‑ready, playing a critical operational role in delivering consistent, high‑quality advice at scale. Primary Responsibilities Financial Planning Execution Manage the full financial planning lifecycle for assigned clients, including: Data gathering and validation Data input and maintenance in financial planning software Analysis of client financial situations Development and documentation of recommendations Prepare comprehensive, advisor-ready financial plans aligned with firm standards and planning philosophy Support ongoing plan updates for life events, strategy changes, and annual reviews Advisor Support Partner closely with Lead Advisors to understand client objectives and planning priorities Translate advisor direction and firm planning frameworks into clear, actionable recommendations Ensure plans are ready on time, complete, and accurately reflect advisor intent Operational Excellence Efficiently manage both the Foundational and Comprehensive Advice service models Maintain strong attention to detail while operating in a high-volume environment Continuously improve workflows, templates, and planning processes to increase efficiency and consistency Adhere to compliance, documentation, and data-quality standards Qualifications & Experience CFP® certification or commitment to begin CFP® Coursework Prior experience in financial planning, paraplanning, or a similar advisor support role preferred Strong working knowledge of comprehensive financial planning concepts, including: Retirement planning Cash flow analysis Investment allocation Insurance and risk management Tax-aware planning Experience with financial planning software (e.g. MoneyGuidePro, or similar) strongly preferred Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools Key Competencies Exceptional organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage high workloads without sacrificing quality Strong written communication skills, particularly in drafting clear, client-focused recommendations Process-oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement Collaborative, team-first approach Performance Expectations (First 12-18 Months) Successfully manage and deliver 100% of the plans on time Deliver plans that meet firm quality and accuracy standards with minimal revisions Demonstrate operational excellence through consistency, efficiency, and reliability Be viewed by Lead Advisors as a trusted, indispensable planning partner
