Conduct residential property inspections for cyclical revaluations, recent sales, and building permit updates; maintain property records, sketches, photographs, and assessment data. Research and process real estate sales, tax abatements, exemptions, and personal property accounts, ensuring accurate records and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Administer the MGL Chapter 61 property classification program, including application review and annual renewals. Manage commercial and personal property accounts using the RRC database and assist with lot splits, addressing changes, and other property record updates. Coordinate real estate and personal property tax commitments, including assisting with quarterly tax bill preparation in MUNIS and collaborating with the Treasurer/Collector, Accountant, and other departments. Calculate and administer sewer, water, and street betterments, maintain related databases, prepare commitment documents, and coordinate payments with the Town Collector. Prepare Board of Assessors meeting notices, agendas, and minutes. Provide exceptional customer service by assisting property owners, taxpayers, builders, developers, and other stakeholders with assessment information, abatements, exemptions, and related inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
Qualifications:
Associate's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience in appraisal, assessment valuation, construction materials, or market analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in MUNIS, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite is strongly preferred. Experience with Vision CAMA, GIS, and DOR Gateway systems is highly desirable. Municipal government experience is a plus.
