The Town of Whitestown is a municipal corporation in Oneida County, New York, with its principal office located at 8539 Clark Mills Road, Whitesboro. Whitestown is the second most populated town in Oneida County. Working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; working knowledge of business arithmetic an English; working knowledge of modern property assessments methods; ability to read and understand tax maps and other documents of legal nature relating to property valuation and assessment work; ability to deal effectively with the public; ability to type accurately at an acceptable rate of speed; good judgement; resourcefulness; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.Key Responsibilities:
Assisting the Assessor with tabulation of real property and statistical information and processing the information by entering into computerized record system; Responsible for updating and maintaining property record information; Accepts applications and assists property owners with tax exemption programs; Assists the Assessor in matters relating to public relations, including fielding complaints and grievances; Answers to all phone inquiries by realtors, assessors and the general public regarding real property matters; Provides property owners with tax maps on request; Performs a variety of related duties in connection with the work of the agency involved.Key Qualifications:
Graduation from High School or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; AND two years of clerical experience working with general public, or such qualifications as the Assessor may be determined appropriate.
