Job Description

Overview The Enterprise Risk Officer reports to the Director of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and is accountable for execution of the bank's Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process for designated business units and serves as a resource for business leaders to lean on for developing, executing, and evaluating risk assessments across the bank, including those related to new products and services. This includes guiding, consulting, and challenging our first line business functions through RCSAs and associated metric reporting, as well as those associated with our second line risk functions. This role ensures an integrated approach is taken amongst the various ERM programs such as Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Issues Management, as well as Model and Non-Model risk management. This role works closely with the Director of Enterprise Risk and Senior Enterprise Risk Officers to deliver on strategic priorities related to the Bank's ERM program. This role involves providing analytics, technology support, and research across the enterprise. The position offers high visibility, working with senior leaders and exposure to various functional areas and business lines within the bank. What You'll Do Evaluate and monitor applicable risks across designated areas of the bank and ensure RCSAs and other risk assessment programs such as those related to new products and services reflect the appropriate risks and controls while working closely with other departments to assess risks, recommend improvements, and ensure alignment with the bank's strategic objectives and risk appetite. Support the Director of ERM and KRI dashboard owners on the delivery of appropriate KRIs and associated reporting, including risk appetite measures and risk targets, tolerances, and limits while working cross-collaboratively with key leaders across the organization. Manage the KRI Action Plan process, lead the documentation effort with the dashboard owners, that includes root cause and industry analysis to support actions reported to management and the board. Regularly monitor the enterprise issues management system and generate detailed reports on identified issues to be reported to relevant stakeholders, while providing effective challenge. Contribute to the development and enhancement of risk reporting processes throughout the bank to support the Risk Appetite Statement and risk-reporting framework. Assist with delivery of high-quality reports in a timely fashion for management and board level committees as needed, including the Enterprise Risk Committee, Risk Management Committee and the Board Risk Committee. Assist with the ERM and Data Governance Program, providing support on reporting practices and governance design. Engage in ad-hoc projects or requests as deemed appropriate by the Director of Enterprise Risk Management. Requirements For Success Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field. 8+ years of risk management experience - Enterprise Risk, Operational Risk, and / or Internal Audit and 10+ years of financial institution experience preferred. Prior experience in risk and control process improvement, standardization and automation of business and control processes, quality assurance and control routines, as well as risk and control metrics and reporting. Working knowledge of risk management principles, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices in the banking sector. Direct experience with developing and/or executing risk and control assessment programs. Demonstrated capability to confidently raise issues, escalate early, and engage in constructive credible challenge independently, while simplifying complex topics and concepts. Ability to synthesize data and observations from a variety of sources, deliver concise summaries (both verbal and written), and enact response quickly. Strong critical thinking skills and practical knowledge of data analysis tools, statistical techniques, and risk management frameworks. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and business intelligence tools. Highly motivated, deadline driven, and results focused. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization.
