The Senior Associate position is an important step between tax preparation and full engagement management and offers increasing responsibility for complex tax work, client relationships, engagement execution, and the development of less-experienced professionals. Tax Senior Associates independently prepare increasingly complex federal, state, and local tax returns, begin reviewing work prepared by Associates, research and analyze tax issues, identify tax-planning opportunities, communicate directly with clients, and take ownership of significant portions of engagements. The position also includes opportunities to supervise and develop Associates, provide meaningful feedback, assist with workflow and engagement management, and contribute technical knowledge or specialized skills to other teams throughout the firm. Because we are a small firm, our professionals work collaboratively across engagements and are expected to step in and help wherever their skills and capacity can benefit clients and colleagues. Tax Senior Associates work with their advisor to develop an annual CPE plan that balances their own professional interests with the technical and professional capabilities needed for continued advancement. Qualifications Candidates should have meaningful professional tax experience and the ability to perform increasingly complex assignments with substantial independence. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or a J.D. degree, is expected as appropriate to the candidate's professional path. Tax Senior Associates are expected to complete an appropriate professional credential during the Senior Associate level. Recognized credentials include CPA licensure, Enrolled Agent certification, or admission to a state bar. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong technical, analytical, organizational, client-service, communication, and problem-solving skills together with the ability to supervise, coach, and support less-experienced professionals.
