Opportunity:
Our client, a well-established and growing national organization, is seeking a Senior Tax Specialist to join its finance and tax team. This is a highly visible role focused on multi-state sales and use tax compliance , offering the opportunity to work with complex transaction volumes, advanced tax technology, and cross-functional business partners. The ideal candidate is a hands-on indirect tax professional who enjoys solving complex tax issues, improving processes, and working in a fast-paced environment. This position offers strong long-term growth potential within the tax function. Key Responsibilities Prepare and manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance activities. Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns across multiple jurisdictions. Research taxability issues, nexus requirements, and state-specific tax regulations. Reconcile tax accounts and investigate variances between tax systems, ERP data, and general ledger activity. Support tax audits, notices, and examinations by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries. Review and maintain exemption certificates and supporting documentation. Partner with accounting, finance, purchasing, technology, and other business teams on tax-related matters. Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, and automation. Support tax technology platforms and compliance systems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of indirect tax experience with a strong focus on U.S. multi-state sales and use tax. Experience preparing, reviewing, and reconciling sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions. Strong understanding of sales tax, consumer use tax, exemption certificates, and taxability research. Experience supporting tax audits, notices, and compliance initiatives. Familiarity with tax engines and ERP systems such as Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE, AS/400, or similar platforms. Strong Excel and data analysis skills. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently. Preferred Experience Retail, distribution, manufacturing, e-commerce, or other high-volume transaction environments. Public accounting, indirect tax consulting, or corporate tax department experience. Exposure to tax automation, process improvement, or ERP implementations. Why Consider This Opportunity?
