Job Description

Opportunity Overview This team joined Aprio through a merger in 2024 and is currently operating with limited bandwidth, making these high-priority hires. The ideal candidate can step into a leadership role immediately, take ownership of client engagements, and delegate work to staff from day one. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to become the face of client engagements, expand their leadership responsibilities, and position themselves for a future partner-track opportunity. The practice has a growing and established client base, creating significant potential for long-term career growth. What They're Looking For A well-rounded tax professional who can independently manage engagements from start to finish. Tax Review & Compliance Review complex individual tax returns (Form 1040), simple trusts (Form 1041), and simple business returns (Forms 1065, 1120S) Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state tax laws Supervise and mentor staff preparing returns, providing technical guidance and quality control Client Planning & Consulting Lead tax planning engagements for individuals and small business owners Advise clients on financial planning strategies, including asset protection, succession planning, and retirement optimization Collaborate with internal teams and external advisors to deliver holistic solutions Engagement Management Manage multiple client relationships and engagements simultaneously Monitor deadlines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure timely and efficient service Participate in business development efforts and identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients Leadership & Development Serve as a role model and coach for junior staff Contribute to internal training and development initiatives Key Qualifications CPA required (also required for future Partner Track consideration) Minimum of 5 years of public accounting tax experience Strong accounting and technical tax knowledge Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns from beginning to end Proven ability to delegate, review work, and manage staff Leadership experience with direct reports Strong communication and client management skills Experience working with small and growing businesses Experience with CCH Axcess is a significant plus, as it is Aprio's primary tax platform Team Structure The candidate would join a team of approximately 15 professionals, including 2 Partners and 2 Tax Directors. This individual would have 4 direct reports and play a key role in developing staff while helping support the continued growth of the practice. Client Base & Service Focus The team primarily serves small business owners, medical practices and physicians, veterinary clinics, health clubs and fitness businesses, and other closely held businesses.

Pay:
$120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
