Position Overview The Tax Manager oversees tax engagements, manages client relationships, mentors team members, and ensures high-quality tax compliance and advisory services. This role requires strong technical skills, project management capability, leadership presence, and a proactive mindset toward technology and process improvement. The ideal candidate balances technical excellence with emotional intelligence, accountability, and a commitment to developing both clients and team members. Key Responsibilities Client Service & Tax Leadership Manage tax compliance engagements for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and nonprofit organizations Review tax returns and workpapers prepared by staff and senior accountants Research complex tax matters and provide practical solutions Deliver proactive tax planning strategies to clients Identify opportunities to expand advisory services Build trusted relationships with business owners and leadership teams Lead tax engagement planning and execution Ensure timely delivery of client work while maintaining exceptional quality standards Team Leadership & Development Coach, mentor, and develop tax staff and senior accountants Provide constructive feedback and performance guidance Review team workloads and assist with resource allocation Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning Participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding efforts Support a culture of growth, ownership, and excellence Technology & Process Improvement Leverage technology and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and accuracy Identify opportunities to streamline tax workflows Drive process improvement initiatives Support modernization efforts across tax operations Stay current on emerging tax technologies and industry trends Firm Growth & Strategic Contribution Contribute to practice growth initiatives Participate in business development efforts Strengthen client retention and engagement Support firm initiatives related to culture, innovation, and operational excellence Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting CPA license required 5 to 8+ years of public accounting tax experience Experience reviewing complex tax returns Strong technical tax knowledge Prior experience leading or mentoring team members Exceptional communication skills Strong project management capability Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Preferred Experience serving middle-market businesses Experience with advisory-focused client service models Familiarity with AI tools and modern accounting technology Experience improving workflows and operational processes Leadership development mindset Strong business acumen What Makes Someone Successful Here You are: Accountable without needing constant direction Resourceful and solutions-oriented Calm under pressure Growth-minded and intellectually curious Comfortable leading difficult conversations Tech-forward and adaptable Client-focused without losing sight of team wellbeing Collaborative and humble Motivated to improve systems and not just operate within them Interested in building a career, not simply holding a role What We Offer Competitive compensation Performance bonus opportunities Work flexibility Professional development investment CPA support and continuing education Leadership development opportunities Technology-forward work environment Collaborative culture Career growth pathways Comprehensive benefits package Generous PTO and flexibility If you are looking for a place where technical excellence, innovation, and people matter equally, we encourage you to apply.
