Position Summary:
- We are seeking a Controller to join a growing organization in Dalton, GA, on a contract-to-hire basis.
Essential Duties:
- Own AP, AR, general ledger, reconciliations, close, and financial reporting activities.
- Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting schedules.
- Manage year-end audit activities and ensure accurate, complete, and timely audit documentation.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, cash flow, and other financial information.
- Identify accounting risks, discrepancies, process gaps, and inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Strengthen accounting processes, controls, and infrastructure to support continued organizational growth.
- Validate and reconcile financial data across reporting systems in partnership with IT and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or other relevant certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting Manager.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with AP, AR, GL, reconciliations, month-end close, and year-end close.
- Experience managing or supporting external audits.
- Experience within a growing or evolving organization strongly preferred.
Skills and Job-Specific Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Sage 50 experience preferred; Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a disciplined, process-oriented approach.
- Ability to balance transactional accounting responsibilities with Controller-level leadership.
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner effectively with senior leadership.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and make an immediate impact.
Travel Requirements:
- No travel will be required, unless at the client's discretion.
