Job Description
Overview Client is replacing their outgoing Staff Accountant with a Controller-a deliberate step up that reflects where this company is headed. The small but High-Functioning accounting department (Controller+AR/AP Clerk) supports a $15M plus construction company with an active project portfolio, multiple GC relationships, and a growing team. This role needs to be someone who can run the books and read them---hands on accounting execution paired with the financial planning and analysis capability to help the CEO make smarter decisions. You will report directly to the CEO, oversee the AR/AP Clerk, own the full month-end close, manage job costing in QuickBooks Desktop, and produce the financial reports-cash reports, margin analysis, management P&Ls ---that keep our leadership team ahead of the business. Full month-end and year-end close--financial statements delivered within 7 business days of month end. Weekly cash position and AR/AP summary reporting to CEO. Rolling 13-week cash flow forecast and quarterly financial performance presentations Job costing in QuickBooks Desktop--real-time cost tracking by project with estimate-to-actual variance reporting. Payroll processing and KPI-based bonus calculations. AR/AP oversight and AR/AP Clerk development. Sales tax filing, 1099 preparation, and all compliance deadlines External CPA and tax advisor coordination. Accounts receivable aging management--escalation before invoices age past 30 days
