A Controller directs and oversees the treasury of a government, private corporation or non-profit organization, and may oversee the investment of funds. Supervises the quality of accounting and financial reporting within an organization, and directs preparation of reports that show the financial position of an organization.
The District Controller serves as the District's chief accounting officer and is responsible for directing and coordinating the accounting, financial reporting, audit, compliance, and internal control functions of Illinois Eastern Community Colleges. The Controller ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards, federal and state regulations, grant requirements, Board policy, and established internal controls.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management, including preparation of financial statements, audit workpapers, and financial reporting. Experience with governmental, public sector, nonprofit, or fund accounting, as well as knowledge of internal control systems, is required. A Master's degree, community college or higher education experience, supervisory experience, experience administering federal and state grants, and familiarity with ERP financial systems, and professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) are preferred.
WAGES:
Based upon $65,000 to $85,000 per year commensurate with education and experience. Benefits include, but are not limited to: medical, dental, and life insurance; paid sick leave, and personal days, and participation in State Universities Retirement System.
