Job Description

Position Summary The Finance Professional is responsible for leading all accounting operations across Huber's family of businesses. This is a hands-on, highly visible role that requires both technical depth and the interpersonal ability to work effectively in a family-owned, multigenerational environment. This position will serve as a key resource to ownership in financial reporting, strategic planning, compliance, and the continued development of financial systems and controls across all divisions. The Finance Professional will work in close collaboration with the company's existing Treasury function, which oversees banking relationships and cash management, ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated financial operation across all entities. Huber's is a seventh-generation, family-owned agritourism and beverage alcohol enterprise operating across multiple business divisions including farming and agriculture, a winery, a distillery, retail, a farm market, a café, event facilities, and a play park. We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and financial functions across the enterprise and serve as a trusted financial partner to ownership and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership and Reporting Lead all day-to-day accounting functions including financial reporting, general ledger management, auditing, compliance, internal controls, inventory, and payments system. Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across all business entities Develop and maintain division-level profit and loss statements for each operating division Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to ownership and senior leadership Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department and division leaders Accounting Operations Own the month-end and year-end close processes Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, and general ledger reconciliation Manage cash flow forecasting and reporting Administer document retention programs and ensure compliance with recordkeeping requirements Oversee and optimize QuickBooks Enterprise across all entities and divisions Compliance and Controls Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax requirements including IN state tax Establish and enforce standard operating procedures to protect company assets Design, implement, and strengthen internal controls across all business units Coordinate with external CPA firm, legal counsel, banking partners, and other outside advisors as needed Systems and Process Improvement Evaluate, implement, and administer accounting systems and technology Identify and execute opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve reporting accuracy Develop financial dashboards and KPI reporting tools to support leadership decision-making Build and document accounting procedures and controls where gaps exist Leadership and Collaboration Work closely with and provide guidance to accounting staff, HR, and IT functions Partner with department and division heads to support operational and financial goals Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to ownership and non-financial managers Collaborate closely with the Treasury function on banking relationships, cash management, and cash flow coordination across all business entities Support the onboarding and development of accounting team members Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 5 years in a senior accounting role Demonstrated experience managing financial operations in a multi-entity environment Hands-on experience with cost accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing or production accounting Proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise, including PO and Inventory Management Control. Knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, financial reporting, inventory mgmt. and internal controls Indiana state and federal tax knowledge Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High integrity, discretion, and professionalism Preferred CPA designation strongly preferred Experience in beverage alcohol manufacturing — winery, distillery, or brewery Familiarity with TTB compliance and reporting Experience in agriculture, farm operations, retail, hospitality, or agritourism Family-owned or closely held business
