Job Description
Assistant Controller For over 50 years, ABL Wholesale Distributors has been a premier single-source distributor serving retailers throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who will support the Company's accounting department by overseeing daily accounting processes, maintaining internal controls, and providing accurate financial reporting and analysis. Responsibilities Manage the general ledger and month-end and year-end close processes Perform routine account analysis and prepare journal entries Prepare financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations Perform routine banking transactions through online banking platforms Supervise daily accounts receivable and accounts payable functions Order cigarette tax stamps and prepare and submit related tax returns Participate in monthly inventory and partner with the Inventory Manager to support accurate inventory reporting Provide backup support for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as needed Analyze and evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements when necessary Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures Experience with accounting software and databases; AS400 experience is a plus Strong data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 5-7 years of relevant work experience; corporate accounting experience preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required Benefits Paid time off Health benefits 401(k) with company match Life insurance
