Job Description

Job Title:
Controller (Part Time)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a part-time Controller to oversee the firm's financial operations. This individual will be responsible for managing all accounting functions, preparing accurate financial statements and reports, and monitoring cash flow. The role includes weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial responsibilities, with a primary emphasis on preparing a comprehensive monthly executive financial report for leadership. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, analytical, and capable of working independently while providing timely and accurate financial insights. This non-exempt position averages approximately 20 hours per week and offers the potential to transition into a full-time role as the firm's business needs continue to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce monthly executive report Financial management and reporting - prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Analyze financial performance and identify trends Develop and monitor annual budgets and forecasts Accounting operations Supervise month-end and year-end closing processes Ensure financial records comply with GAAP or the firm's accounting policies Cash flow and treasury Compliance and protection against fraud Revenue cycle management Calculate bonuses and profit sharing Ensure tax compliance Monitor billing and collections Financial analysis including providing leadership with actionable metrics Internal controls including developing financial policies and audit trails Tax responsibilities including year end schedule, tax planning, collection rates, coordinate audits and reviews Advise management on strategic financial decisions Evaluate marketing spend and return on investment Forecast profitability Identify expense reductions Monitor key performance indicators Support long-term growth planning
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (required) Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting 5+ years of accounting experience 2+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager role Experience preparing monthly financial statements independently Experience managing annual budgets and forecasting Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end/year-end close CPA license or CPA candidate MBA or CMA is a plus, but not required Law firm, CPA firm, or other professional services experience Experience with trust (IOLTA) accounting Experience implementing accounting systems or improving financial processes Experience developing financial dashboards and KPIs Salary range: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour based on experience
