General Production Worker Job Description We are seeking a reliable General Production Worker to support daily operations in a metal fabrication shop. This role involves performing a variety of hands-on manufacturing tasks, assisting skilled trades, and helping ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment. Responsibilities Assist with general manufacturing and production tasks throughout the fabrication shop. Load, unload, and move raw materials and finished products. Perform basic operations such as cutting, grinding, deburring, and cleaning. Support welders, fabricators, machine operators, and other production staff as needed. Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools such as grinders, drills, and saws. Conduct visual inspections of parts for quality and defects. Package, label, and stage finished products for shipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S/housekeeping practices. Follow all safety procedures, quality standards, and production instructions. Complete basic production documentation as required. Essential Skills Experience in production, assembly, and machine operation. Proficiency in packaging and inspection processes. Ability to use hand tools and operate machinery. General labor skills including loading and construction. Understanding of blueprint reading. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a metal fabrication or welding shop. Familiarity with measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers. Forklift or overhead crane experience, or willingness to be trained. Ability to read basic work instructions or shop drawings. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a metal manufacturing shop that is non-climate controlled, which means it can be cold in winter and hot in summer. The shop is equipped with fans and bay doors to facilitate air flow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of King George, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
