ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Mows lawns. Assists with right-of-way mowing and brush pick-up. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs. Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides. Rakes and bags leaves. Cleans grounds and removes litter. Shovels snow from walks and driveways. Spreads salt on public pathways to prevent ice buildup. Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Waters lawns and shrubs. Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks. Paints fences and outbuildings. Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts. Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears. Performs other duties as requested or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated. Follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all unsafe conditions and acts to the supervisor. Reports all accidents to the supervisor immediately whenever possible, but no later than the end of the employee's work shift. Follows recognized safe work practices.

EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Requires possession of a valid Class B Illinois commercial driver's license (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
