Birdsong Medical Centre Birdsong Medical Centre is seeking an experienced, patient-centered Licensed Acupuncturist to establish and grow an acupuncture offering within our integrative, physician-led wellness practice in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity for a motivated practitioner who values clinical autonomy, exceptional patient care, collaboration with an interdisciplinary wellness team, and the opportunity to build a meaningful caseload within an established practice. Position Overview The ideal practitioner combines strong clinical acupuncture skills with a warm, professional presence and an interest in working alongside a longevity, preventive medicine, and whole-person care team. We are especially interested in someone comfortable supporting patients with pain, stress, sleep concerns, women's health, fertility support, digestive symptoms, recovery, and overall wellbeing. The acupuncturist will provide services within scope of practice, maintain professional standards and documentation, and coordinate appropriately with the Birdsong team to create a seamless patient experience. Responsibilities Perform patient consultations, assessments, treatment planning, and acupuncture treatments within scope of practice. Deliver safe, compassionate, individualized care and clear patient education. Maintain complete, timely, and compliant documentation. Carry and maintain all required licensure, certifications, and liability coverage. Coordinate professionally with the Birdsong clinical and front-office team. Help develop acupuncture offerings, packages, and educational materials aligned with the practice model. Build and retain a patient panel through excellent outcomes, communication, and service. Maintain a clean, organized treatment environment and follow applicable safety and infection-control standards. Required Qualifications Current, unrestricted South Carolina license to practice acupuncture. Current NCCAOM certification, as applicable to South Carolina licensure and renewal requirements. Graduate of an accredited acupuncture or Oriental/East Asian medicine program. Current professional liability or malpractice insurance. At least 2 years of independent clinical experience preferred. Excellent communication, bedside manner, organization, and documentation skills. Professional, reliable, and comfortable working independently within a collaborative setting. Eligible to work in the United States. Preferred Experience Fertility and women's health acupuncture. Chronic pain and musculoskeletal care. Sports recovery or post-procedure support. Stress, insomnia, and nervous-system regulation. Digestive-health support. Experience in an integrative, functional, wellness, or concierge-style practice. Comfort educating patients on care plans and recommended treatment frequency. Interest in participating in practice marketing, workshops, community education, or referral development. Contractor Arrangement 1099 independent contractor role. Flexible schedule, with initial availability ideally including select weekday, evening, or Saturday hours. Compensation structure to be discussed during the interview and may include a percentage split, room-rental arrangement, or hybrid structure based on experience and scheduling needs. No employee benefits are provided with this independent contractor arrangement. Contractor is responsible for their own taxes, licensure, insurance, and applicable professional obligations.
