In-person (school-based setting in West Covina and surrounding areas) Job Summary ABA experience preferred, with provided training toward become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). If you enjoy working with children and want meaningful work where you're supported and trained, Operant Services is hiring Behavior Interventionists (BI) to work one-on-one with students in school settings. This role is sometimes referred to as a Behavior Technician (BT) or Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Training toward RBT certification is provided. Behavior Interventionists help children build communication, social, and daily living skills while reducing challenging behaviors. Services are provided during the school day and follow individualized behavior plans under the supervision of experienced clinicians. This role offers hands-on experience working directly with students and school staff and can be a great fit for individuals interested in careers in psychology, education, behavioral health, or child development. Yearly schedule for this position follows the district's schedule for holidays and yearly breaks, which include Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks.
Typical working hours fall between:
Monday
  • Friday | School Hours (approx. 7:30 AM
  • 3:30 PM) Additional hours may be available depending on school and student needs.
One key benefit of school-based services is consistent scheduling — if a student is absent, staff are typically reassigned within the school site or district, helping maintain hours and pay. Many Behavior Interventionists prefer this schedule for its consistency and alignment with school calendars. Training and Support Paid training toward becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
New Behavior Interventionists receive:
Up to 40 hours of paid training Ongoing supervision from experienced clinical staff Hands-on coaching during early sessions Our goal is to help new team members feel confident, supported, and prepared when working in school settings. Responsibilities Work one-on-one with students in school settings Help students practice communication, social, and daily living skills Support students in reducing challenging behaviors Follow behavior plans created by clinical supervisors Collect basic session data and communicate with supervisors This Role Is a Good Fit for People Who Enjoy working with children Are dependable and show up consistently Are patient and calm in challenging situations Communicate well with teachers, staff, and supervisors Want meaningful work that makes a difference Requirements High school diploma required Some college coursework preferred Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is helpful but not required Reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally Valid driver's license Must be available during weekday school hours Applicants will be required to complete a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check prior to employment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are encouraged to apply. Physical Requirements Because this role involves working directly with students, team members must be able to: Lift or assist children up to 50 pounds Sit, stand, and move frequently Get down on the floor and return to standing Bend, kneel, or crouch when needed About Operant Services Operant Services provides behavior support services for children and families throughout the Inland Empire and surrounding areas. Our team works with families, schools, and clinical supervisors to help children build communication, independence, and everyday life skills through Applied Behavior Analysis.
