Job Summary Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting orthodontic treatment procedures. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced orthodontist, assist with various clinical tasks, and ensure a smooth, efficient practice environment. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with a passion for patient management and clinical excellence, will contribute to transforming smiles and boosting patient confidence every day. Duties Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary orthodontic instruments, materials, and equipment ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for procedures. Assist orthodontists during patient consultations, adjustments, and appliance placements by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently. Take high-quality dental X-rays, including panoramic and intraoral images, adhering strictly to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment care to promote optimal results. Perform dental sterilization procedures following infection control policies using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments using patient management software, greeting patients as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards across all clinical activities. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting is highly preferred. Familiarity with orthodontic procedures including braces, aligners, retainers, and other appliances is advantageous. Proficiency in dental x-ray techniques along with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy enhances your ability to support complex treatments effectively. Hands-on experience with dental equipment such as 3D scanners, intraoral cameras, and patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is desirable. Strong understanding of infection prevention management practices including sterilization procedures and aseptic technique is essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to communicate clearly with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, demonstrating empathy while explaining treatment plans in understandable terms. Certification in CPR or healthcare infection control is beneficial; ongoing training in endodontics or prosthodontics can further strengthen your candidacy.
