Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings, using advanced dental instruments and equipment. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all dental equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to strict infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric dentistry and general dentistry needs. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow with patient management software, and providing excellent customer service. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and dental instrument processing. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, oral anatomy, dental equipment operation, and infection control standards. Ability to operate medical imaging devices including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining safety protocols. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating healthcare infection prevention and control expertise. Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
