Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, arranging dental supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to infection prevention management protocols. Assist dentists during procedures such as cleanings, oral surgeries, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and maintaining a clear field of view. Take dental x-rays using advanced digital imaging technology like 3D scanners while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and assist with patient management before, during, and after treatments to ensure comfort and safety. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and reinforce clinical confidentiality policies. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow efficiently through patient management software. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and scheduling is advantageous. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and dental equipment operation is essential. Familiarity with dental x-ray procedures, oral surgery assistance, endodontics procedures, prosthodontics support, and four-handed dentistry techniques will set candidates apart. Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique is required. Experience with medical documentation standards related to medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and clinical confidentiality policies is desirable.
