Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our team. Although we would ideally want an individual with a strong background in orthodontics, we are open to training any candidate eager to learn orthodontic assisting. As an Orthodontic Dental Assistant, you will support orthodontists in providing comprehensive orthodontic treatments, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and infection control. Duties Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Assist orthodontists during procedures such as bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques. Take digital dental x-rays, specifically panoramic images, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) system Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, oral hygiene practices, and post-treatment instructions to promote optimal outcomes. Operate dental equipment including 3D scanners, medical imaging devices, and dental sterilization procedures to maintain clinical readiness. Collaborate with the dental reception team to coordinate appointments, manage patient flow, and handle administrative tasks efficiently. Adhere strictly to clinical confidentiality policies while documenting medical history, treatment notes, and other relevant information accurately. Experience Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with specialized knowledge in orthodontics or pediatric dentistry preferred. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing patient data effectively. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental instrument processing techniques. Experience with dental x-ray procedures, including radiographic safety standards for patients and staff. Knowledge of infection control protocols aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards and aseptic techniques. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high levels of patient care and clinical confidentiality policies. Background in general dentistry or prosthodontics is advantageous but not mandatory; specialized training in orthodontics is highly valued. Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude toward patient management and team collaboration.
