Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, supplies, and sterilization procedures to ensure readiness for patient appointments. Assist dentists during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support and managing dental instruments efficiently. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to infection prevention protocols and radiation safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform dental instrument processing including sterilization, disinfection, and inventory management to uphold strict infection control policies. Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to assist in comprehensive treatment planning. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and general dentistry procedures to promote optimal oral health outcomes. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection prevention standards. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar patient management software. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Experience with dental equipment operation including 3D scanners, dental x-ray machines, and other diagnostic tools. Expertise in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment. Strong understanding of dental instrument processing, chairside assisting techniques (including four-handed dentistry), and medical coding for billing purposes. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds while demonstrating excellent patient care skills. Familiarity with healthcare infection control standards and general dentistry best practices for maintaining clinical hygiene and safety.
