Duties Assist dental practitioners during examinations and procedures using chairside assisting techniques, ensuring smooth clinical operations. Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and dental sterilization procedures. Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Patient Management Software to ensure accurate documentation of medical and dental histories. Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care during dental visits. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring adherence to healthcare infection prevention and control standards. Support general dentistry procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside assistance with aseptic technique and four-handed dentistry practices. Educate patients on oral health care, post-procedure instructions, and infection prevention protocols to promote optimal health outcomes. Assist with dental equipment maintenance, including operation of dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners, ensuring all tools are functioning correctly for safe use. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth patient flow, manage appointment scheduling as a dental receptionist when needed, and provide excellent patient management. Experience Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting, preferably within correctional facilities or similar environments involving security protocols. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient medical documentation and record keeping. Knowledge of infection control practices including dental sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Hands-on experience with dental radiography including X-ray techniques and 3D imaging technology. Strong understanding of dental terminology across various specialties such as general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and manage patient care with professionalism and sensitivity to clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent communication skills suitable for coordinating with patients, healthcare professionals, and correctional staff while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
