About Us MERCI Clinic is a nonprofit, community-based free medical clinic committed to providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare and dental care to uninsured and underserved individuals. Rooted in the values of equity, dignity, and access for all, our mission is to improve community health and remove barriers to care—regardless of a person's ability to pay. Position Summary To assist in the performance of quality, caring, clinical dentistry; to become adept at assigned clinical procedures; to aid the doctor smoothly. Perform clinical and technical procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The dental assistant gets the patient ready, prepares the operatory equipment and assists the doctor during examinations and treatment. Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients. Maintains equipment and inventory. Adhere to OSHA, HIPPA and health regulations. Complete other duties as assigned by manager

Key Responsibilities Assist Dentist:

Assist dentist as appropriate to level of traning/certification

Communication and Patient Experience:

Promote a welcoming, respectful, and confidential environment for all patients Resolving patient concerns or barriers to care with professionalism and empathy Maintain confidentiality and HIPPA compliance Educating patients about MERCI clinic program and other programs as appropriate Community & Partnership Engagement Represent the clinic at coalitions, events, and health fairs to build awareness and referrals Support outreach and advocacy efforts to advance health equity in the community Collaborate with other team members to effectively coordinate care Skills

• Communication (English and Spanish) Use of specialized equipment to include autoclave, x-ray machine pano, Pache gun, Whip Mix hand pieces Computer management and dental software programs Communication (English and Spanish) Accuracy and detail Qualifications High school diploma and dental assistant training certificate (Certificate/Registration preferred) Minimum 1 year of experience in dental clinic setting X-Ray license, CPR Certificate Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft office, accurate data entry Commitment to the mission of equitable, accessible healthcare for all Commitment to the mission of equitable, accessible healthcare for all Working Conditions Based primarily on site in a clinic setting Occasional evening or weekend hours for outreach or events Requires multitasking in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment

Pay:

From $16.00 per hour

Experience:

Dental assisting: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

Spanish and English (Preferred)

License/Certification:

X-Ray Certification (Preferred)
