The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient management, and dental procedures, with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. As a Registered Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of daily clinic activities while adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient appointments. Take dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and adherence to safety standards. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions or concerns professionally. Ensure infection prevention measures are strictly followed through proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting the dental receptionist when needed. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, equipment operation, and clinical protocols related to general dentistry and specialized fields like pediatric dentistry or oral surgery. Skills Proficiency in EMR systems such as Open Dental for efficient patient data management. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality. Experience with dental radiography including X-ray and 3D scanner technology. Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures and infection control practices aligned with healthcare standards. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Familiarity with dental instruments, equipment operation, and medical imaging tools used in dentistry. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, and team members. Understanding of dental terminology relevant to dentistry and healthcare documentation practices. Ability to handle medical records accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies. Experience in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry environments is highly desirable. Requirements & Qualifications Previous dental assisting experience preferred but not required. Willing to train the right candidate Dental Assistant certification preferred; RDA credential is a plus Current CPR/BLS certification preferred Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and infection control protocols Experience taking dental x-rays preferred Familiarity with digital x-rays and dental practice management software is a plus Ability to assist the dentist efficiently during a variety of procedures Strong understanding of sterilization and instrument processing procedures Excellent communication and patient-care skills Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Professional, friendly, and compassionate demeanor Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Must be willing to learn and follow office protocols and procedures.
