Job Description
Overview Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Our Mission is to promote health and wellness through excellent, compassionate care for all. Dental sterilizer technician is responsible for the sterilization of all dental instruments used in dental procedures, as well as any instruments laid out for possible use. Dental sterilization technician may also set up and break down dental armamentarium from operatories as needed.
Prepares dental units for Dentist, stock units and ensures that units are clean at all times. Maintaining the instruments and working areas in strict accordance with sterilization/ disinfection protocols. Sterilize all instruments and headpieces according to OSHA regulations. Preparing and arranging instruments for the sterilization process. Wear heavy-duty utility gloves, a face shield and protective coverings when handling contaminated instruments. Put away and organize dental instruments in operatories for re-use. Operate sterilization machines (Autoclaves) safely, without risking burns or personal injury. Ensure that office sterilization procedures are documented and posted at all times. Break down, clean and set up operatories as needed to assist the dental assistants. Cross-training in other dental support positions as necessary. Escort patients to treatment room, seat patients and have proper set-up for procedure ready as needed. Conduct pre-patient staff meeting in the morning each day before starting shift. Comply with all OSHA, Dental Board and MCC policies. Oversee cleanliness of treatment room according to sterilization procedures. Disinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulations. Do daily hand piece inventory. Other duties as assigned.
