Part-Time Orthodontist — Weis Dental (Virginia Beach & Portsmouth, VA)
Schedule:
Part-time, 2 days per week —

Weis Ortho, Virginia Beach, VA (2029 Lynnhaven Parkway, Suite 700) and Weis Dental, Portsmouth, VA (5915 High St W, Portsmouth, VA 23703) About Weis Dental Weis Dental is a family-oriented pediatric dental and orthodontic practice serving Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, and Chesapeake, VA. Founded by parents who understand that a child's dental health and comfort go hand in hand, Weis Dental has built a reputation for warm, patient-centered care delivered by a compassionate, experienced team. Weis Ortho provides comprehensive orthodontic services — including traditional braces, Invisalign, palatal expanders, retainers, and nightguards — to children, teens, and adults, all under one roof alongside general pediatric dental care. The practice prides itself on building lasting, trusting relationships with patients and their families. Position Overview Weis Dental is seeking a licensed, part-time Orthodontist to join our orthodontic team, providing care two days per week (Wednesdays and Fridays) across our Virginia Beach and Portsmouth locations. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality, patient-focused orthodontic treatment in a collaborative, family-first practice environment. Responsibilities Perform new patient orthodontic evaluations, exams, and consultations, including early orthodontic evaluations for children Diagnose and develop personalized treatment plans for a range of orthodontic needs Provide treatment including traditional braces (metal, ceramic, or clear), Invisalign/clear aligners, palatal expanders, retainers, and nightguards Monitor patient progress throughout treatment and adjust treatment plans as needed Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and parents/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment options, timelines, and expectations Collaborate with the dental and orthodontic team, front office, and clinical staff to ensure smooth patient scheduling and care coordination between locations Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records Ensure compliance with all applicable state dental board regulations, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards Participate in delivering care consistent with the practice's patient- and family-centered philosophy
Required:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school Successful completion of an accredited orthodontic residency program (Certificate or MS in Orthodontics) Active, unrestricted license to practice dentistry/orthodontics in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date) Current DEA registration Current CPR/BLS certification Ability to reliably work the required schedule (Wednesdays and Fridays) across both Virginia Beach and Portsmouth locations
Preferred:
Experience treating pediatric, teen, and adult orthodontic patients Experience with Invisalign/clear aligner therapy Prior experience working in a multi-location or multi-provider dental practice Strong chairside manner with children and families; comfortable working alongside a pediatric dental team Bilingual (Spanish or other languages relevant to the local patient population) a plus
