Duties Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary plans and safety standards, ensuring nutritional needs are met for geriatric patients. Assist with food production, including cooking, plating, and portioning meals efficiently to maintain quality and presentation. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including sanitation of equipment, utensils, and work surfaces following food safety regulations. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers, while adhering to safe lifting practices for heavy loads. Support dietary department operations by cleaning and assisting with food handling and sanitation duties. Follow proper manual handling procedures during heavy lifting tasks to prevent injury and promote workplace safety. Document meal service activities accurately and assist with inventory management of food supplies and kitchen materials. Skills Proven experience working in nursing homes with a strong understanding of geriatric dietary needs. Extensive food production and preparation skills within the food industry or culinary settings. Knowledge of food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Strong understanding of nutrition principles relevant to elderly populations and adherence to dietary requirements. Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach when working with residents. Basic math skills for portion control, inventory counting, and meal planning tasks.
